Meet our Principal

Melissa Neilsen

Miss Melissa is a FULLY QUALIFIED, PASSIONATE & EXPERIENCED dance teacher.

After starting dance classes at the age of 7, Miss Melissa knew that she wanted to be a dance teacher.  Throughout her schooling years, Miss Melissa studied every style of dance available to her and travelled excessively  throughout Queensland and New South Wales attending workshops with famous teachers and dancers to refine her skills and knowledge.

Miss Melissa was very lucky to have the opportunity to be a student teacher in her teenage years, where she learnt many valuable lessons.  After completing high school Miss Melissa travelled to study dance teaching full-time in Brisbane for two years with Australian Dance Performance Institute.  After gaining her Advanced Diploma (formerly Brisbane Dance Centre) and her Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher status, Miss Melissa moved to the Burdekin to share her love and knowledge of dance with the youth of the community.

Miss Melissa is always seeking to further her knowledge in the dance world and frequently attends teachers workshops nationally to stay up to date with current teaching methods and safe dance practice.  This is to insure the students of Simply Dance receive the most up-to-date training available.

Miss Melissa has been teaching in the Burdekin for 13 years and has produced many wonderful dancers who have travelled Australia and the Globe with their dancing.
